Welcome to the Regional Centre Training Institute (RCTI).

RCTI started in 2001 as the IT Training Centre, a campus of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), offering certificates, diplomas, and Degrees in ICT and Business. In 2014, the RCMRD management decided to focus more on the area of Geospatial Science and Technology. In 2016, RCMRD was licensed by the TVET Authority to offer Diplomas in Land Surveying, Cartography, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Printing, and ICT, as well as certificates in Land Surveying and IT. With the change, the training wing of RCMRD adopted the name Regional Centre Training Institute, and the first intake was done in June 2016.

From then, the institute has grown in student numbers and courses, and in 2021, RCTI was approved as a KASNEB Training and Examination Centre. We are also working on introducing more courses. RCTI focuses on training students from Kenya, Member states, and beyond. The tagline of RCTI is “Let’s Map Your Future,” and true to the slogan, we emphasize hands-on practical skills to deliver current industry-required courses using current cutting edge technologies. 

RCTI also offers short and professional courses. We also conduct corporate courses focusing on the application of current technologies. In the aim to produce all-round graduates, we do not only focus on technical skills but also ethics, life/soft skills, and we mould the character of our students while also motivating their innovative ideas. RCTI makes sure we select the most qualified trainers, who are ready to be mentors and role models to guide the students to be responsible professionals with the right attitude and character. The institute provides social support, which is key to the success of our students in life.
